Museum of Art and Nature
Studio Utz Antonio Kaspar
"Yesterday I climbed the highest mountain in our area, which is not undeservedly called the Windy Mountain, simply out of a desire to get to know the famous height of the place."
Francesco Petrarca (1336)
Utz Antonio Kaspar would like to use his small collection to appeal to people
who have not yet been enthusiastic about contemporary art.
Petrarch climbs this mountain out of curiosity to gain a new perspective on things.
The view from the summit in all directions appeals to him, but this stressful walk also enables him to gain new insights. The report on this mountain tour is also the first description of a hike through nature that we know of in Europe.
The exhibition curator has travelled extensively on foot and by bicycle since his youth through the stunning landscapes of Europe, Africa and Asia. He would like to share his enthusiasm - of seeing oneself as part of a larger whole - with his contemporaries and thereby sensitise them to the pressing challenges of today.
The museum does not display any expensive works of art; it is good works that were created in the lively field of tension before or after nature. It is art that was created in the confrontation with visible and invisible nature and thus opens up new worlds to the viewer...
